Why Is Root Canal Treatment Essential for Tooth Health?

When the pulp inside a tooth becomes infected or inflamed, it cannot heal on its own. Timely root canal treatment removes the infection, relieves pain, and prevents the damage from spreading to surrounding bone. Without treatment, the tooth may develop severe infection, abscess formation, or require extraction.

What Is a Root Canal and How Does Tooth Infection Develop?

A root canal is the natural, hollow space inside a tooth that houses nerves and blood vessels. When decay becomes deep, a tooth cracks, or repeated dental work weakens the tooth, bacteria can reach the pulp and cause infection.

Once the pulp is infected, the only way to save the tooth is by removing the damaged tissue and cleaning the canals. Ignoring the infection can lead to severe pain, swelling, bone loss, or even the spread of infection to other areas.

Common causes:

  • Deep, untreated cavities reaching the pulp
  • Cracked or fractured teeth
  • Trauma or injury to a tooth
  • Multiple dental procedures on the same tooth

A great clinic with homely environment inclusive of a comfy couch, books to read, relaxing posters that are unrelated to dental problems and soothing environment that eases the senses. The response from the doctors for the patients in the waiting area is quite prompt. There is not only sterilized tools and top of the line equipment but also an array of well versed doctors and attendents to operate them with precision and accuracy. My feedback on Dr. Akshat Srivastava: A year ago, I went to the premises for the first time and was randomly alloted (walk-in, without appointment) to Dr. Srivastava for cleaning only. His candor takes you by surprise and eases you into a state of mind. Which is highly conducive and necessary in a doctor-patient relationship, regardless of undergoing a simple or a complex procedure. He treats your senses before treating your teeth. Throughout the process he maintained a calm and communicative demeanor, all the while clearing any doubts I had, as easily as clearing my teeth. Moreover, he filled me up with ample information to last me a life time of healthy teeth and ideal oral hygiene. Yesterday (almost a year later), it was my second visit to the clinic under appointment with Dr. Srivastava. His decorum is unchanged still or probably got better (which is impossible as it cannot get better than this). After his check-up, he concluded that no procedure is required, quite shocking to me as a patient, as one hopes that there is always something wrong. He insisted that I continue to follow as is, no harm will come to me. Furthermore, I have had my other family members here too, whom he has tasked upon with same vigour and enthusiasm. I thank him for not leading my family and I astray. My feedback on Dr. Kritika Jangid: Yesterday, while my dad is being treated by Dr. Srivastava, I am waiting on the comfy couch. Meanwhile, Dr. Jangid is wearing her shoes to leave and call it a day, which undoubtedly would have been hectic. However, upon my query on gums (her forté), stopped her right in the middle and without any refrain, she happily devoted her next 15 minutes to extensively educate me about brushing with no gum damage. All the while her hand mimes were in well accordance of her words which further aided her explanation about the caring of gums while brushing. Her video on Facebook under 'Clove Dental' page named, 'How to brush your teeth properly' is a life saver. I thank her for clearing my doubts even when I thought I did not have any. In conclusion: I am as oblivious about oral health and hygiene as much as the next person. However, the array of Dental caretakers available at your disposal at this establishment will not let anyone down, considering one goes with an open mind. They take oral health seriously as should anyone else.
